Joe Gaiter: What does football mean to you?
Rodney Morris: Football means the world to me. It’s always been a huge part of my life ever since I was child. It was another way for me to get a free education also was able to take that burden of paying for college of my parents.
Joe Gaiter: Tell us about your season this year?
Rodney Morris: I had a great season I finished the year with 30 catches for 500 yards and 6 touchdowns. I led the conference in touchdowns and yards per catch. I was First-Team All SIAC (Tight End), and also I was a D2 HBCU Gameday First Team All-American. Also was named to the Don-Hansen D2 All-South Region 2 Team. I also participated in the HBCU Spirit of America Bowl. So all in all I feel like I had a great year.
Joe Gaiter: What makes you ready for the NFL?
Rodney Morris: What makes me ready for the NFL/CFL is that I have a certain set of tools that will allow me to be successful at the next level.
Joe Gaiter: Who would you compare your football skills to that currently play in the NFL?
Rodney Morris: I like to model myself after Jordan Reed Tight End for the Washington Redskins.
Joe Gaiter: Do you have any regrets over your college career?
Rodney Morris: My only regret is not being patient when UAB shut there football program down. I transferred out that next semester not knowing that they would bring the program back that next year. That was a great environment and it’s a shame that team got split up.
Joe Gaiter: What is your motivation for playing the game?
Rodney Morris: My motivation for playing the game is simply the fact that I love the game and I’m not ready to work a 9-5 quite yet.
Joe Gaiter: How important is community service to you once you make the team?
Rodney Morris: Community service is very important because I had a community that was very much involved in my life. Anytime an opportunity arises where I can give back that I will for sure take that opportunity.
Rodney Morris: If I could go back to my freshmen year I would take the opportunities I had earl more serious.
Joe Gaiter: What are keys in playing Tight End?
Rodney Morris: Keys to playing tight end are making contested catches, creating separation at key moments, and being a solid blocker.
Joe Gaiter: What has your biggest accomplishment?
Rodney Morris: I would say my biggest accomplishment this far is being named a D2 HBCU All-American.
Joe Gaiter: Do you have a backup plan if you don’t make it to the NFL?
Rodney Morris: If the NFL/CFL doesn’t work out, I would like to pursue a career in sports talk radio. Getting into coaching is something I’ve been thinking about also.
Joe Gaiter: Who is your agent and why did you chose them?
Rodney Morris: Kindu Walker is my agent, and I chose him because I trust that he will put me in the best light to be successful.
Joe Gaiter: When is your proday?
Rodney Morris: My pro day is March 16th at Kennesaw State University.
Joe Gaiter: Where and how often are you training?
Rodney Morris: I train Monday-Saturday at Parisi Speed Factory in Marietta GA.
Joe Gaiter: What do you want your legacy to be?
Rodney Morris: I want my legacy to be somebody who worked hard and when I was called upon, made plays. I would like to shoutout my parents Rodney Morris Sr and Alagra Morris.
