Ronnell Jackson: What Football means to me is not just a game. Football is a lifestyle. Football will teach you your strengths and weaknesses real quick. It’s a game of chess. I love the game and it means a lot to me from the opportunities it’s opened up. It taught me as a young black men.
Joe Gaiter: How was your season this year?
Ronnell Jackson: This season was great and a very big learning experience. We ended the season with a 10-2 record coming so close to a 2nd in a row state championships. I’m a ring chaser and nothing but that. I ended with 70 total tackles with 5 sacks.
Joe Gaiter: What made you commit to Clark Atlanta?
Ronnell Jackson: My commitment to Clark Atlanta came from long conversations with family and friends, and the big thought of getting an education with my brothers and sisters and eventually getting great opportunities. Also, the start of my career studying business management. Head Coach Kevin Ramsey is like family. This was my first offer in the summer of 2017 and sticking it out and staying with the first. He is from St Missouri as well. The atmosphere at Clark is great and a school I know I will love to be a part of. The Football program is great and beginning to become even better so I wanted to be a part of the team. So I had to commit to CAU.
Joe Gaiter: Your Christmas video went viral when your mom gift wrap your acceptance letter from CAU and gave it to you as a Christmas gift. Did you think that video would gain national attention?
Ronnell Jackson: No, not what I thought at all. Seeing all the support from alumni not only from the AUC but everyone from HBCU’s all around and yard talk, Black excellence, I love my HBCU and the list goes on but I appreciate everyone that had supported me and following me on this new journey. With the attention that I’ve received made me want to do only positive things.
Joe Gaiter: Tell me about the bond that you have with your mother?
Ronnell Jackson: There’s no bond with my mom, there’s a Chain that will never be broken. I love her and would do anything for this lady Elizabeth Donielle. She has taught me so much. She does so much for me, especially as a single parent. She’s this strong independent black woman. She is my idol, so talented in so many ways with 100 personalities and characters. Being the only child it’s only been ME AND MY MOTHER AGAINST EVERYONE ELSE. And the dog fight is still not over. I still have a long journey ahead and my mother will still be there for it all. Just like I will be here for her. The funny thing is I asked my mom would she come out there with me. I have full respect and loyalty to my mother and will hate to see her leave on moving day. Follow her @elizabethdonielle she’s very big in the natural hair, modeling, and promoting world. She has great with tips and advice for all businesses.
Joe Gaiter: Have you decided on a major for college yet?
Ronnell Jackson: I’ve decided to try and double major in Business management and marketing while minoring in Mass Media Arts. I’m really big in the Business platform already with the rising companies of SOE The Empire (an entertainment label) and SOE clothing line (success over everything) big project out now and coming soon. To see new arrivals and buy on Instagram and Twitter search @SOE_clothing
Joe Gaiter: What position will you be playing on the football team?
Ronnell Jackson: I’ll be a defensive back playing cornerback or safety. I will be coached by Dextar Jackson. He was a professional defensive player for the Buccaneers. He also went to the Super Bowl and was MVP. I can’t wait to work with him.
Joe Gaiter: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Ronnell Jackson: In the next 5 years I see myself and my company being the best source for all small Businesses to come to for their marketing and promotion. I will be working and networking with BET, Coca-Cola, Amazon and more with being an investor in all the advertising and communications of the companies. The next big thing for the business industry period. I would also like to be signing a contract with the Atlanta Falcons if possible to. My work ethic is impeccable and the grind doesn’t stop.
Joe Gaiter: What should your future team and college know about you?
Ronnell Jackson: For my team: I’m ready to work and grind. I’m hungry for another ring and to help this program and team to be the best it can be. I have great leadership abilities and not afraid of a challenge or any opponent. All men were made the same and can get knocked off their feet the same way. It’s showtime. Go hard or go home. No distractions. We must focus on the vision and the process the grind never stops like said before.
For my college: CAU I’m very open person and always here to network and learn. I hope that CAU can learn from me too. I am a self made entrepreneur and not afraid to take risk and invest in those willing to help me and work. I would like to eventually have people join SOE The Empire (an entertainment label) that’s does event directory, promotion, modeling, TV production, film production, photography, artist management, and helps businesses in the AUC. The creation has already started with a few departments opening up to those in my class of 22. This is the next big thing for you guys and for others around the world. I’ll be sure to be trending with SOE clothes all around campus.
Joe Gaiter: Final Words?
Ronnell Jackson: God bless and it’s showtime.
