Tre’ Hobbs: It’s kind of hard to put into words what football means to me. I’ve been dedicated to it for the past 15 years and it has taught me a lot. I love it and I always will. This game has changed my life and I’m thankful that God gave me the opportunity to play it.
Joe Gaiter: How was your season this year?
Tre’ Hobbs: This past season was good but it could’ve been great! As a team we didn’t do what we were capable of doing and we knew it. This season has taught me the most out of any other one and I’m thankful for that. I scored some touchdowns and had some great catches but I feel like I could’ve done more. But it wasn’t in my hands, it was a season for learning.
Joe Gaiter: How hungry are you to make it in the NFL?
Tre’ Hobbs: I’ve been dreaming about making it to the NFL since I can remember. Imagine the NFL was a full course meal and I haven’t eaten for the past 15 years, that’s how hungry I am to make it to the NFL lol. I’M READY FOR A FULL OUT FEAST!
Joe Gaiter: What would you tell yourself if you could go back to your freshman year?
Tre’ Hobbs: Be patient, your time is coming. Just be a sponge and suck in all the information you can from the veterans and coaches. Pay attention to the details because they can take you from good to great. Get involved in community services, you’ll feel good after helping someone else out.
Joe Gaiter: Why should someone pick you over someone that plays your same position?
Tre’ Hobbs: I can do more than catch a ball and run good routes. Put me on punt return or on the field goal block team and let me go block the ball before it makes it off the kickers foot. Or throw me on kick off and let me go tackle. I’m a very versatile player that can be used at multiple positions on the field. I can also turn a dead play into great play with my play making abilities.
Joe Gaiter: Have you reached your athletic peak?
Tre’ Hobbs: No I haven’t reached my athletic peak; I still have a lot left in me. I have a lot of untouched potential that I’ve been developing.
Joe Gaiter: What is your motivation on the field?
Tre’ Hobbs: My struggles from back home in Detroit. Seeing my mom and grandma work countless hours to make sure me and my siblings had what we needed. They didn’t give up so I never will. Also my Lord and Savior Jesus, He gave me these abilities for a reason so I feel like its my duty to use my talents to bring Him glory.
Joe Gaiter: Do you have a backup if you don’t get drafted?
Tre’ Hobbs: I’m from Detroit so I’ve had to be prepared for anything, so I made sure I put time into developing other areas in my life just in case things don’t go as planned. But I’m young so for right now this is my main focus
Joe Gaiter: Who is your agent and why did you chose them?
Tre’ Hobbs: I haven’t signed with an agent yet, but I’ve been in contact with a few. I have to read over the contacts and make a decision soon.
Joe Gaiter: Where and how often are you training?
Tre’ Hobbs: Right now I train at Sanford Power in Sioux Falls, SD. They’ve done an amazing job getting me ready for my pro-day. I also train with Wideout Tech in Detroit, he has improve my game so much. I train 4-5 days a week, I try not to overdue it.
Joe Gaiter: Tell me about your proday and combines.
Tre’ Hobbs: I’ve been to a few combines and scouting games. I’ve been to Myrtle Beach, Miami, and Indianapolis. My best test scores so far are 4.46 40 yard dash, 38 vertical, 4.21 Shuttle, 6.72 L drill, and a 10.5 broad jump. I have a proday the 26TH of this month at CSU Pueblo and another one March 30th at South Dakota State University.
Joe Gaiter: What do you want your legacy to be?
Tre’ Hobbs: I want to be known as a player that used my platform to spread the word. I don’t want to be just a football player; I want to help people accomplish their dreams as well. I want to be known for being a great man not just a great player.
Joe Gaiter: Final Words?
Tre’ Hobbs: I want to thank you for doing this interview with me, it’s a blessing. I want to give a shoutout to my Grandma, mom, Mr.B, Kyle Herges, and everybody from 7mile and Vandyke.
