Joe Gaiter: What does football mean to you?
Brandon Mayes: Football is my passion and has always been. Playing football at the highest level has offered me opportunities, and chances to experience different things in life and enjoy them.
Joe Gaiter: Tell me about your season this year?
Brandon Mayes: My season was in ways cut short. I had an injury that lingered throughout my year.
Joe Gaiter: How hungry are you to make the NFL?
Brandon Mayes: I am very hungry to make it to the NFL. It has been a dream of mine since being a little kid. I have sacrificed and put a lot of time into perfecting my craft. Which I will continue to do but as of now I have everything I dreamed of infront of me. That is all but enough to focus and drive me everyday.
Joe Gaiter: What will you miss most about playing college ball?
Brandon Mayes What I will miss most is the atmosphere of college. Being a student athlete the closest you really get to a normal college experience is on Saturdays. The emotion and seeing the different traditions around the nation is the coolest thing to me.
Joe Gaiter: What would you tell yourself if you could go back to your freshman year?
Brandon Mayes Trust the process and continue to work hard and never be afraid to be great.
Joe Gaiter: Why should someone pick you over someone that plays your same position?
Brandon Mayes My attention to detail I take pride in knowing the little things and what to do in certain situations. I make plays that is what I do and I have made it this far doing that and will continue to do that. I am driven to be the best and have a passion to be the best I am extremely competitive.
Joe Gaiter: Have you reached your athletic peak?
Brandon Mayes Not even close.
Joe Gaiter: What is your motivation on the field?
Brandon Mayes My motivation is that I play with such a fire and a passion that pleases my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For Him giving me these abilities and opportunities to play this game and to also be the best. If you are not motivated by that and winning I don’t know much else that could motivate you.
Joe Gaiter: Who is your agent and why did you chose them?
Brandon Mayes My agent is Jim Wright and I choose Jim and Dr. Lashbrook at SMWW because he has been in the business for a very long time. He has helped many players fulfill their dreams in playing for the NFL.
Joe Gaiter: Where and how often are you training?
Brandon Mayes I train at EFT Chicago and I train seven days a week with my off day being active recovery.
Joe Gaiter: Tell me about your proday?
Brandon Mayes My pro day was very exciting in that I had two one at NIU and at WIU. My first pro day was a decent day not bad at all but not what I wanted it to be. My second pro day I was much more relaxed and get to some of my goals I had set out for myself.
Joe Gaiter: What do you want your legacy to be?
Brandon Mayes: I want to be one of the names mentioned with greatest playmakers in the game. I want to be remembered as a game changer.
Joe Gaiter: Final Words/Shoutouts?
Brandon Mayes: I just want to thank my family for always supporting me and having my back through it all. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am today. Another huge shout out to Kerry Neal, Landon Cox, Elias Karras and the rest of the EFT staff along with Pro Rehab and Dr. Randy.
