Malik Duncan:I did not play high school football my freshman year, When I became a sophomore in high school I was a 10th grader who played on the freshman team and I barely played, When I was in the 11th grade I only started the first three games at linebacker than after that I did not really get any playing time. When I decided to for my senior year to move to corner everyone just thought I would be a joke but I ended up showing every one that I was good. I remember my first 7 on 7 at corner we were playing this school called ReynoldsBurg in Columbus and this guy ran a go route on me and had me beat by 5 yards and I kept running and he caught it in the end zone and I knocked it out last minute and that was the eye opening play that put me high on the board.
Joe Gaiter:How hungry are you to make the NFL?
Malik Duncan: I’m very hungry, it caught me off guard that I have not got any rookie camp invites or a free agent shot but it is okay, this is nothing new every year of my life I always had something tough to deal with so I look at it like a sign from God to help me remember what exactly it felt like when I was not nothing. I just look at it like yeah I had a phenomenal college career but with this going on he is showing me that do not forget why you became All American and everything because you believed. So with that being said I believe I will get my shot and when I do people will regret it.
Joe Gaiter:What are your college career stats?
Malik Duncan:147 Tackles, 5 TFL, 29 PBU, 7 INT, 2 FR, FF, Sack, (Did not allow a touchdown in 28 straight games)
Proday Stats:
21 Reps on Bench
4.66 (40)
9’10 Broad Pro Day
38 Vertical
7.1 (3 Cone best)
11.63 (60)
Joe Gaiter:Why do you feel that you haven’t received that call yet from a team?
Malik Duncan:I’m 5.9 and ran a 4.6 that is why I think that but a 40 shouldn’t define who I am, Numbers or film do not lie and not giving up a touchdown in 28 consecutive games in college is big but I’m not sure why it doesn’t matter.
Do you feel like your were overlooked?
Malik Duncan:I have always been overlooked my whole life but every chance I got on every level I proved them wrong.
