Tremell Gooden: Football is more than just a sport. If you’re surrounded by the right people it teaches you life lessons. Family bonding with your brothers that grind with you during the off-season and go to war with during the season.
Joe Gaiter: First game of the season. Morehouse wins against UAPB with a major upset 34-30. How did it feel to win against a D1 program?
Tremell Gooden: It felt good. It shows that there are athletes on every level of football that can play with anybody.
Joe Gaiter: Last week you played against Lane College with a 42 – 20 victory. What made Morehouse so dominate that game?
Tremell Gooden: Everybody came in and did their job. Everyone on the team is held accountable by the team off the field, in the classroom, in the film room, the weight room, in practice, and in the games. No matter what make sure you’re doing your job at all times.
Joe Gaiter: Tell us about your touchdown play that went viral?
Tremell Gooden: That play came from working hard during the off-season. Shoutout to the offensive line for holding their blocks and the quarterback for giving me a chance to make a play.
Joe Gaiter: Your first home game is this week against Central State University. What are the keys in winning this game?
Tremell Gooden: Everybody coming to weights, film, and practice focused. We need to have a great week of practice and ready to play and do your job on game day.
Joe Gaiter: What is your role on the team?
Tremell Gooden: My role is the same as everybody’s role, come ready to play do your job and make plays when I get the opportunity.
Joe Gaiter: How do you mentally prepare for a game? And do you have any game day rituals?
Tremell Gooden: When getting ready for a game I love to keep high spirits and high energy. I also talk to my loved ones before getting ready for the game. My game day ritual would be standing at the goal line talking to my self and God, thanking him for putting me in the situations I’m in. Also giving the ability to be able to play the game I love everyday.
Joe Gaiter: Do you feel your team is gaining a momentum?
Tremell Gooden: I do I feel like the first win set the tone. We know we have to keep working hard and getting better everyday to achieve our goal.
Joe Gaiter: What is your motivation to play football?
Tremell Gooden: My motivation is to show my younger sibling that no matter what happens to you in life you can still achieve all your goals and dreams if you put in the work. Just because something goes wrong, you have to stay strong, keep your head up and have faith that the work you put in gone take you to where you want to go.
Joe Gaiter: Final Words?
Tremell Gooden: Special shout to my Special 8, they know who they are. They play a big part in my life. They’re at every game and supporting me no matter what happens. Also my family I know y’all watching. The grind never stops.
