Joe Gaiter: What is your untold story?
DeAndre Stevens: My life is story is the reason why I strive to take care of my family. Growing up the second oldest out of seven kids, I’ve had the hardest journey. I always felt alone and not wanted so I turned my back on my family and friends but just by noticing how football was turning my life around, I let everyone back in. My career is Dedicated to those who helped me out when I had nothing.
Joe Gaiter: Who inspired you to start playing sports?
DeAndre Stevens: I honestly don’t remember who inspired me to start playing sports. It just felt like a calling. I never really sat down to watch players go at it. I simply watched their techniques and game planning. I say that nobody inspired me because it’s multiple people but with different strategies.
Joe Gaiter: What are your fondest memories about Banneker Highschool?
DeAndre Stevens: Undeniably, it would have to be the struggle that we had,. Without the pain and suffering we went through as a school and as a team, there wouldn’t be a BANNEKER FAMILY. Only really family stays when times get rough and nobody left the family.
Joe Gaiter: What makes you a great Wide Receiver and Cornerback?
DeAndre Stevens: When practicing; I never give up, I never quit, and I always want more!
Joe Gaiter: What lessons have you learned from your coaches?
DeAndre Stevens: If you want to win a football game all it take it skills, but if you want to win a title, a ring, successful life, etc. then it takes time, effort, dedication, and most of all attention to detail!
Joe Gaiter: Has your school canceled graduation this year?
DeAndre Stevens: Yes, sadly my graduation has been canceled but my principal won’t let us go out without a bang so I’m sure he will come up with something.
Joe Gaiter: How have you been mentally dealing with this new Coronavirus world?
DeAndre Stevens: Mentally I understand that it’s a dangerous virus or what not, but corona not stopping me from grind especially when I got a lot on the line.
Joe Gaiter: Where are you heading next year?
DeAndre Stevens: ASA Miami .
Joe Gaiter: How was your recruitment process?
DeAndre Stevens: My recruitment process was tough. I wish I could go back in time and take care of my business and get straight A’s instead of having my grades all over the place. I I owe for sure I would’ve had more offers and would’ve been able to put Banneker on the map.I’m taking my talent to ASA Miami and will limit my mistakes.
Joe Gaiter: Who would you compare your style of play to that currently plays in the NFL?
DeAndre Stevens: I believe to have a mixture of 3 people (Jarvis Landry- physicality, Odell- his explosive moves and speed, and Hopkins- his vision)
Joe Gaiter: What would you say is your football IQ?
DeAndre Stevens: Considering that I’m always open to learn know things I honestly don’t know. I’ll go with 82%

Joe Gaiter: What is your motivation on the field?
DeAndre Stevens: I remember that it’s people praying for me and depending on me. Also, people who can’t wait for the moment I mess up.
Joe Gaiter: What will be your major and how do you plan to use it?
DeAndre Stevens: I will be majoring in business and technology. I want to create a sport training company that will have it’s own indoor facility for all sports.
Joe Gaiter: What advice do you have for Banneker 2021 football team?
DeAndre Stevens: Trust in Coach Lou, everything he tell you will put you 1 step closer to a championship, and always go 150% even if your just walking!!
