DeAndre Vickers: Football means a lot to me really. It kept me leveled and taught me lessons as a youngin. I grew a love for competing and grinding through football from a young age.
Joe Gaiter: Where did you grow up and how was your childhood?
DeAndre Vickers I grew up in Atlanta and Stone Mountain my childhood was wild to say the least.
Joe Gaiter: What are your fondest memories of Lithonia High School?
DeAndre Vickers Track season because it was always a fun experience and we were a really good team which made the whole experience better. Even practicing was fun.
Joe Gaiter: Tell us about your recruiting experience?
DeAndre Vickers: In high school I had a few schools checking me out for wide reciever and safety. Some coaches visited and would call but I didn’t end my high school career with an real offer so I ended up walking on to Savannah state.
Joe Gaiter: Tell us about your time at Savannah State?
DeAndre Vickers:At Savannah I changed my major 3 times. I fell behind on credits and couldn’t play ball for some semesters. I finally got it all figured out during fall of 2017 and was able to play the next season after forgoing the 3 prior seasons.
Joe Gaiter: Why did you choose Livingstone as your next college?
DeAndre Vickers: When I was sending film out to D2 schools they were the last school I sent film to and the 1st to hit me back. I felt like they had to most need for me.
Joe Gaiter: What was some of your stats this year?
DeAndre Vickers: 2019 stats 10 catches 166yds 1 td. My stats where cut more than half from the year before due to a toe injury.
Joe Gaiter: Livingstone was 4-6 this year. What went wrong this year?
DeAndre Vickers: I would say injuries were killing us and towards to the ladder part of the season. It seem like nothing was clicking for offense to put points on the board.
Joe Gaiter: What makes you a great wide receiver?
DeAndre Vickers: I feel like my Football IQ and my ability to be a threat from the slot and outside makes me a great Wide Reciever.
Joe Gaiter: What is one quote that you live by?
DeAndre Vickers: Growing up I always would think about what was said in Romans 8:18 “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed to us.”
Joe Gaiter: Where are you training?
DeAndre Vickers: I started off training a GSP in Duluth but after a car accident, I started training closer to my home in Decatur.
Joe Gaiter: How did you face adversity over your college football career?
DeAndre Vickers: I faced adversity almost every step of the way. From not being able to play because I just needed to take one more class to a petty toe injury slowing me down in what was supposed to be a championship season for Livingstone.
Joe Gaiter:How was your proday?
DeAndre Vickers: Due to Covid 19, I wasn’t able to do any proday but I intend on going to one of the ANC combines and a couple CFL workouts over the summer if it’s Gods will.
Joe Gaiter: Who is your agent?
DeAndre Vickers: I been in contact with a couple agents but I have sign anything yet.
Joe Gaiter: What is your major and how did you plan to use it?
DeAndre Vickers: My major is sociology and the plan is to get my masters in urban planning in the near future so I can be a city planner. I want to help rebuild the communities throughout the city of Atlanta, Decatur and Stone Mountain.
Joe Gaiter: What is your motivation?
DeAndre Vickers: Aside from family, I truly get motivated off my own mindset which is to get straight to it by all means. I love doubt as much as I love support.
Joe Gaiter: What is next for you?
DeAndre Vickers: More Football hopefully.
Joe Gaiter: What do you want your legacy to be?
DeAndre Vickers: I want my legacy to be something that people can see and get motivated. A true came from nothing to something story.
Joe Gaiter: Final Words?
DeAndre Vickers: I appreciate everything the game has done for me so far. From keeping me out of most trouble when I was growing up to making me want to go to college. I always wanted to make a career out of it no matter what I got to do on the field, and I also appreciate you reaching out that’s love fasho.
