Randy Allen Jr: Football means everything to me. It’s the best sport invented in my eyes. We play on teams with people from different cultures, communities, and we all play together as one to accomplish one goal winning. I love the unity that football brings. The brotherhood that you gain from playing football is lifelong.
Joe Gaiter: What is your motivation for playing the game?
Randy Allen Jr: My motivation was always my older brother. He had his college career taken from him because of an injury so I’ve always played for him. I know he enjoys seeing me play.
Joe Gaiter: Tell us about your season this year?
Randy Allen Jr: This season was one of the most challenging. It took us a couple of weeks to really figure out what type of team we wanted to be but we figured it out . And even though 4-6 isn’t a good record, I believe we gained respect from a lot of teams.
Joe Gaiter: What makes you ready for the NFL?
Randy Allen Jr: I believe I’m ready because football is football. The game doesn’t change as long as I prepare and work I’ll be ready. I’ve played against draft prospects plenty of times every time I hear somebody is a prospect it makes me go even harder
Joe Gaiter: Who would you compare your football skill to that currently plays in the NFL?
Randy Allen Jr: As far as what I do, I would say Landon Collins of the New York Giants. He blitzes off edge a lot so can I as well as can be used in the box. I am a deep defender that’s not afraid of contact.
Joe Gaiter: Do you have an agent??
Randy Allen Jr: No.
Joe Gaiter: Do you have any regrets over your college career?
Randy Allen Jr: No , no regrets.
Joe Gaiter: Describe yourself in 3 words
Randy Allen Jr: Ambitious. Reliable. Loyal.
Joe Gaiter: Tell us about the bond you have with your teammates?
Randy Allen Jr: I have a great bond with my teammates that’s literally the only people I hang out with. Like I said before it’s a brotherhood .
Joe Gaiter: If you could go back to your freshman year, what would you do differently?
Randy Allen Jr: I’d probably redshirt instead of playing as a true freshman. I would’ve developed more and gotten more exposure I believe.
Joe Gaiter: What separates you from other athletes that play your same position?
Randy Allen Jr: What separates me is my knowledge of the game due to film study. It makes everything come easy to me .
Joe Gaiter: What has your biggest accomplishment?
Randy Allen Jr: Receiving All Conference this year. I led the team in tackles and finished top 10 in our conference as a DB.
Joe Gaiter: Do you have a backup plan if you don’t make it to the NFL?
Randy Allen Jr: Yes, there are other leagues out there. I also plan on working with juveniles. I plan on coming up with a program that would allow me to work with teens who get in trouble and need guidance.
Joe Gaiter: When is your proday?
Randy Allen Jr: Don’t have one at the moment.
Joe Gaiter: Where and how often are you training?
Randy Allen Jr: Here at Chowan throughout the week .
Joe Gaiter: What do you want your legacy to be?
Randy Allen Jr: I want to be the guy coaches use to refer to as guy who gets it. One who does the right thing on and off the field .
