Qaadir Dixon: Football means to me opportunity and family. Playing football can open doors for any individual. Such as getting scholarships and making you a better young man. Football brings family together as one. Let’s you have something to talk about and watch together and share love between one another.
Joe Gaiter: Why did you commit to Slippery Rock?
Qaadir Dixon: I committed to Slippery Rock University because I felt it was a home for me. As soon as I got there on a visit, I felt apart of the brotherhood already. Slippery Rock has a strong football program which caught my eyes. It was very comfortable to be at which is very important because you do not want to go to college without being comfortable. People were friendly and out of all my visits. Slippery Rock was the best choice.
Joe Gaiter: What position will you be playing?
Qaadir Dixon: I will be playing Wide Receiver at Slippery Rock University in the fall of 2018.
Joe Gaiter: What do you feel that you could bring to their football program?
Qaadir Dixon: I feel I can bring leadership and hardwork ethic. I can lead the team to victory. I will make sure all my teammates are working hard and bring them up when they are down. I will show them what it is to be a Martin Luther King Cougar!
Joe Gaiter: What does your family think about your decision?
Qaadir Dixon: My family was with me this whole process. They came on the visits with me and seen it for themselves. They think it’s a great decision. They said it’s the best fit for me and thought so myself.
Joe Gaiter: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Qaadir Dixon: In 5 years, I see myself having my bachelors degree and going to graduate school. I also see myself going pro in football. Knowing this things isn’t easy, you have to apply yourself to anything you want to do with dedication and preparation.
Joe Gaiter: How was your season this year at MLK?
Qaadir Dixon: Our 2017 season went well. We finished 6-4 including postseason. We fell short in the semifinals against Northeast High School. There was many things we needed to improve and we just didn’t finish.
Joe Gaiter: How has your experience at MLK prepared you for the college ball?
Qaadir Dixon: MLK has prepared me for college ball by showing me certain types of college workout routines, what to eat, how to keep my body in shape and be mentally and physically tough.
Joe Gaiter: What should your new team know about you?
Qaadir Dixon: My new team should now that I am coming in ready to go and holding back nothing. I’m going to be prepared for college ball and will be ready to prove it on and off the field. They will not regret recruiting me and will feel good doing so.
Joe Gaiter: Final words?
Qaadir Dixon: I have only played 1 year of varsity football so getting this opportunity to play college football is a blessing. I’m ready to get better and expand my knowledge of football. Alot of people do not get this opportunity so I’m just thankful. I would like to say thank you to everyone who made an impact on my whole recruiting process. Rest in Peace Dad!
