Joe Gaiter: What does football mean to you?
Malcolm Jenkins: Football is really something I can’t even explain. It means so many different things to me but the biggest I will have to say is football opened so many doors for me. It’s made me alot smarter, more discipline, gave me more drive, and it pushes me everyday to be the best me I can be in every aspect of life.
Joe Gaiter: How is life as a free agent?
Malcolm Jenkins: It’s a grind, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve been grinding since I was little. It’s all going to pay off though because I been training so hard and my faith with God is too strong to break. I know it is coming. I am currently signed to an arena team and several CFL teams have reached out to me including some NFL teams who told me to get some professional film.
Joe Gaiter: What is your motivation on the field?
Malcolm Jenkins: My family, I can go in so deep and explain why they motivate me so much but we all have our struggles but long story short I promised my grandmother and my family that I would make it and give back to the less fortunate. Everyday I Look in the mirror and remind myself that my why greater than how tired I am.
Joe Gaiter: What makes you NFL ready?
Malcolm Jenkins: My knowledge on the game. I study so much film. I train harder than anyone I know. Also my feet and football IQ are deadly. All I do is train with NFL and ex NFL guys on a weekly.
Joe Gaiter: Who is your agent and why did you pick them?
Malcolm Jenkins: Jim Wright! His energy and passion to help me is truly amazing. I met alot of agents who just want to charge you or really don’t have connections but want to use your name just in case you make it. He is a stand up guy and I respect that.
Joe Gaiter: Do you have any regrets ?
Malcolm Jenkins: Regrets ? Not at all everything that has happen was God’s plan. All I do is focus on the present and work on making my tomorrow better
Joe Gaiter: What are 3 words that describe you?
Malcolm Jenkins: Intelligent, driven, and ambitious.
Joe Gaiter: If you could go back to your freshman year of college, what would you tell yourself?
Malcolm Jenkins: Stay on your path don’t let others doubts effect you ! Stay true to you and prove yourself right not others wrong
Joe Gaiter: How coachable are you?
Malcolm Jenkins: Very coachable, I’ve learned to adjust to any system I’m in. So I work any technique I get taught to better my play
Joe Gaiter: What has been your biggest accomplishment?
Malcolm Jenkins: Graduating college with my degree in accounting and finance.
Joe Gaiter: What is your backup plan if you don’t get picked up this year?
Malcolm Jenkins: I’m big on will Smith. I’ll make a new plan A. I put 100% in my plan instead of 80% in plan and 20% in plan B. In my opinion doing it that way will make you fail at both and make you create a C. So I just take it one step at a time.
Joe Gaiter: How hungry are you to make it?
Malcolm Jenkins: Words can never describe.
Joe Gaiter: What is the greatest lesson you have learned?
Malcolm Jenkins: Stay humble and never let others manipulate your decisions.
