Daniel Crowell: Football means everything to me. It’s my life I put so much into..That’s why it means so much. This is what I’m using to pay the bills one day.
Joe Gaiter:What are your fondest memories of Meridian High School?
Daniel Crowell: Probably the attention, articles and cameras from big platforms.
Joe Gaiter:Tell us about your recruitment experience.
Daniel Crowell:Nothing at all. I feel this road was meant for me to walk down. Now when I make it I’ll know I really worked for it.
Joe Gaiter:What is your untold story?
Daniel Crowell: I was a 4 star. I committed to Ohio State but got into a little trouble and fell off grade wise and had to go juco. We won 3 rings but within them 3 rings started getting injured back to back years which was some new to me. I had never been injured before that. Several schools wanted me again but couldn’t perform because I was hurt catching the game winning touchdown that sent us to the National.. I received a bounce back offer from Troy late so I redshirted. I still played on the 4 game rule then they had a coaching change. I decided to leave and go to JSU.
Joe Gaiter:How was Troy University?
Daniel Crowell: It was great. Great team, great players, coaching, teachers all that.
Joe Gaiter:Why did you choose Jackson State University?
Daniel Crowell: I seen Jackson State record and saw they needed help on offense. I remembered JSU running the SWAC and I wanted to be a big reason they got back to that JSU and we will.
Joe Gaiter:What are your strengths and things you want to improve on as a Wide Receiver?
Daniel Crowell: My strength is I am a do it all Receiver. Whatever coaches need me to do. they know I can and my hands are cheat codes. I want to become smarter not saying that I don’t have IQ but only I know what I need to work on you know.
Joe Gaiter:What is your style of play like?
Daniel Crowell: I play however I need to play to get the ball. If I have to play small and quick I am able to do that. If I have to play big and aggressive I can do that.
Joe Gaiter:How do you get in the head of your opponent?
Daniel Crowell: I block them real hard first play just to let them know I aint playing. I don’t talk much. I let my teammates do that for me.
Joe Gaiter:JSU was 4-8 last season. What went wrong and how will you personally help change it?
Daniel Crowell: Broke my heart. I never had a season like that before. I have always won over ten games a season in my college career but it made me hungrier. But this year, I plan on putting alot of stats up so it will be hard to lose a game.
Joe Gaiter:Senior year coming up, are you excited?
Daniel Crowell:Very! Man I got one more year to put my talents on film for a scout to give him a reason to pick me. I shouldn’t even have to say much more.
Joe Gaiter:What has been your role on the team?
Daniel Crowell:A leader and person they are counting on to make plays.
Joe Gaiter:What have you been up to during your off-season?
Daniel Crowell:Work work work!
Joe Gaiter:What is your ultimate goal?
Daniel Crowell:Finding my purpose with God. I Just want to make it to the league and take care of my people. I want to show people that taking a different route doesn’t change your goal. I mainly give hope until the people who are slepted on.
Joe Gaiter:How are you expanding your brand?
Daniel Crowell: My trainer Shay Hodges has really helped expand my brand from him posting me on his page. All types of people follow me from everywhere because of football.
Joe Gaiter:What are your thoughts on the 2020 Draft?
Daniel Crowell:A lot of my boys were drafted but I’m also unhappy because a lot of them didn’t get picked. I felt some players got picked because of where they went instead of can they play.
Joe Gaiter:Who are some athletes that we should look out for next season?
Daniel Crowell:Warren Newman, Jsu; Daylen Baldwin, Jsu; Kobe Gates,Jsu; Zaire Jones, Youngstown State and Quincy Lenton, Florida.
Joe Gaiter:What do you want your legacy to be?
Daniel Crowell:Just want to be mention with the greats.
Joe Gaiter:What is your motivation?
Daniel Crowell: My son, my past and my loved ones.
Joe Gaiter:Final Words?
Daniel Crowell: I’m the best Wide Receiver in the Swac! No cap! It’s not cocky, it’s competitive.
Joe Gaiter:Shoutouts?
Daniel Crowell: To Elton, Von, and Scott, 2live and the gang in Macon.
