Jared Harrington: Basketball means everything to me. The lessons the game has taught me is vital in my life. It’s allowed me to network and go places I never thought about going. Lastly forced me to get out of my comfort zone and develop constantly on and off the court.
Joe Gaiter: When did you start playing sports?
Jared Harrington: 7 years old.
Joe Gaiter: How did Capital Christian Academy help you develop your talents?
Jared Harrington: Capital Christian was a basketball powerhouse nationally so it allowed me to see the business aspect of basketball and also allowed my game to grow from the competition we played against.
Joe Gaiter: Why did you choose Albany State for college?
Jared Harrington: I chose ASU because of the family culture that’s there. Being from the city I saw it as a unique experience to see a new region and even better opportunity to showcase my talents.
Joe Gaiter: What were some of your career stats?
Jared Harrington: Blessed to be a 1000 point scorer in college, SIAC all-conference team, averaged 18 ppg in conference play as well as 25 ppg in SIAC Conference Tournament.
Joe Gaiter: What impact do you think you made to Albany State’s basketball team?
Jared Harrington: I helped changed the culture of Albany state men’s basketball. This season was the first time in over 10 years that ASU has been second in conference and also this was the best school record since 2007, this was a major accomplishment for me .
Joe Gaiter: Do you have any regrets?
Jared Harrington: Only regret I have is not bringing a SIAC championship to Albany State University.
Joe Gaiter: What makes you such a dynamic guard on the court?
Jared Harrington: I believe my ability to makes things happen on the floor. Whether it’s scoring from all three levels of the court or putting my teammate in the right position to make a play .
Joe Gaiter: What is your motivation?
Jared Harrington: My motivation is my parents work ethic. Seeing them grind every morning motivates me to do the same to provide for my love ones like they have .
Joe Gaiter: What is your untold story?
Jared Harrington: Coming out of high school, I was recruited by the likes of Boston College , St Francis , Boston U , Quinnipiac etc but I didn’t qualify on the SAT. Instead I started at a D3 school (Daniel Webster) for two years instead of going D1 or Juco. I stayed working, transferred up, and put myself in the position to play professional basketball for a long time.
Joe Gaiter: What is next for you in your athletic career?
Jared Harrington: I will be signing with my agent and I training preparing for Pro workouts.
Joe Gaiter: Where and with who are you training with to help develop your craft?
Jared Harrington: I am training with trainers Hanif Hill, Keith Williams, and Vaughn Myers
Joe Gaiter: What are your strengths and weaknesses on the court?
Jared Harrington: My strengths is my 6’5 frame at the point guard/Shooting Guard position. I am versatile on the floor and naturally always been a playmaker. Things I’m working on the most is my strength and conditioning, pick and roll game, and consistent deep range 3’s , spot up as well as transition.
Joe Gaiter: What do you want your legacy to be?
Jared Harrington: I want my legacy to be a stand up Man of God first and leaving the world better than when I came into it.
