Jehlon Beasley: Basketball means everything to me. Basketball has been the most essential thing in my life besides God, my family, & friends. This sport has taken me places around the country, it has taught me more about myself and life, and it has brought nothing but joy in my life despite what is going on around me!
Joe Gaiter: When did you start playing sports?
Jehlon Beasley: I started playing basketball at the age of 5.
What made you choose Clark Atlanta?
Jehlon Beasley: Well I was out of state in Mississippi & Arkansas playing basketball. I was always homesick, and I’m from Atlanta, Ga. So when the opportunity presented itself, I took full advantage and fell in love with Clark Atlanta. Once I met and worked out with the coaches and took a tour of the campus!
Joe Gaiter: What are the keys in playing Guard?
Jehlon Beasley: You must be a leader, very vocal, and patient! Guard is by far the hardest and most pivotal position in the game of basketball!
Joe Gaiter: Clark Atlanta was 14 – 16 last year season. What do you think went wrong?
I believe we had a highly skilled team, we just had a hard time putting our selfish desires & pride to the side! If we would have managed to play as a team, communicate better, and listen to our coaches more we would have had an incredible unstoppable season! We were that good!
Joe Gaiter: How serious are you about basketball?
Jehlon Beasley: Basketball plays a very essential role in my life! Since a young age I’ve always known what I wanted to do. Sometimes I can be a little too serious about it so for the last two years I’ve been trying to relax and not be so hard on myself!
Joe Gaiter: How is your relationship with your twin brother Justin?
Jehlon Beasley: Our relationship is great! Justin is literally my world! Without him I truly believe that I wouldn’t be able to survive! He plays professional soccer so he is someone besides my father, to whom I look up to! From support, love, & trust with my life he is the reason I can stay motivated to keep going no matter what! I love him to death.
Joe Gaiter: Are you at your athletic peak?
Jehlon Beasley: I believe I will reach my athletic peak at the age of 25-26! I have a lot more things to improve on and get better at! Since I’ve stop playing college basketball I’ve seen my level of play get even better from my training so I truly believe I’m nowhere near my athletic peak!
What are your career goals?
Jehlon Beasley: My career goals are to go overseas and play for an high level market whether it been in Japan, China, or Europe! I want to grow with an organization and use my story and journey to reach out to millions around the world! I plan on opening summer basketball camps for kids in grade school to teach them more about basketball and life!
Joe Gaiter: Tell us about your modeling career?
Jehlon Beasley: Well, since a child I’ve always loved taking pictures! This has been one of those hobbies that came so naturally. It started out as a hobby and family and friends somewhat got in my ear and told me to start taking it serious! I want to grow in the modeling industry and do this on the side with basketball!
Joe Gaiter: What have you been up to since 2018/19 season?
Jehlon Beasley: Within the past year I’ve received a couple professional overseas offers from my agent. I have been training rigorously getting ready to play on a professional level while also finishing up school at Clark Atlanta University.
Joe Gaiter: Who is your agent and why did you choose them?
Jehlon Beasley: My agent is Rugovac Alen (Strsljen Sports Management and Consulting). They believed in me and took me in with open arms determined to find opportunities around the world for me! That’s all a college athlete looking to go pro could ask for from an agency! I received a handful of offers and opportunities from them!
Joe Gaiter: Where and how often are you training?
Jehlon Beasley: I train in Gwinnett with Pure Performance Basketball about 1 to two times a day in the summer starting at 5am then I do strength and conditioning at LA fitness with my brother, girlfriend, or friends. So I train about 3 times daily out of a 5 day week! Saturdays and Sundays are for recovery.
Joe Gaiter: What is your untold story?
Jehlon Beasley: Many don’t know this but I did not play basketball in highschool. The coaches said I was too small and not good enough so I was cut from varsity my last two years and still managed to play for three amazing universities! That untold story alone could help thousands of kids around the world who experience rejection from sports to encourage them to never give up!
Joe Gaiter: What is next for you?
Jehlon Beasley: I leave to play professional basketball overseas in September to Belgrade, Serbia so I’m very excited and looking forward to the opportunity!
Joe Gaiter: What should your next team know about you?
Jehlon Beasley: I believe I am what coaches, teammates, and organizations need out of a point guard! I am a leader on and off the court, my communication skills are up to par, I am very patient with coaches and teammates and I believe my skill level is set to compete with others despite them having more experience!
Joe Gaiter: What is a quote you live by?
Jehlon Beasley: I am a firm believer in God so a scripture quote I do my best to live by is Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Joe Gaiter: Are you proud of your accomplishments?
Jehlon Beasley: I am! I wouldn’t redo my journey for anything and i plan on making my professional full of unthinkable accomplishments!
Joe Gaiter: What are you grateful for?
Jehlon Beasley: First & foremost I am grateful for my Lord and savior Jesus Christ! Without him I am nothing but with home I am everything! I am also grateful for my family, friends, & girlfriend! Each of them has played a pivotal part in my basketball career and overall life! From them supporting and motivating me to even them helping me get shots up at the gym, I would be nothing without them! I am very grateful of them from the bottom of my heart.
Joe Gaiter: Final Words?
Jehlon Beasley: I want to thank you (Gaiter Sports) for supporting me and doing this interview with me! And I just want to thank God, my family, and friends! And I also want to thank Clark Atlanta University for the love and support I’ve received from them over the past two years!
Joe Gaiter: Shoutouts?
Jehlon Beasley: Shoutout my mother and my father, My 3 siblings, my girlfriend, & Scheme! I love y’all!
