Joe Gaiter: What does basketball mean to you?
Kwanza Murray: Basketball means a lot, it’s a safe haven for me. It’s the best outlet to go to for everything.
Joe Gaiter: What is your untold story?
Kwanza Murray: A lot of people counted me out, but I am a person of a few words. I let my reputation speak for itself.
Joe Gaiter: What is your fondest memory about Summerville High School?
Kwanza Murray: Being the first to graduate high school from my family
Joe Gaiter: Tell us about your recruitment experience?
Kwanza Murray: It’s been very rough trying to find schools that fits me and valued my talent along with my career path academically.
Joe Gaiter: Why did you choose Lincoln University?
Kwanza Murray: I chose Lincoln because it felt like home and it was a new experience for me to endure during my life’s journey.
Joe Gaiter: How did it feel to join the 1,000 Points club?
Kwanza Murray: It felt good being though it was my first time ever getting that. It was another milestone to my basketball career.
Joe Gaiter: Lincoln University was 23-6 this season. What contributed to your team’s success?
Kwanza Murray: We were all on the same page. We wanted the same goal. We had great chemistry and our preparation was a huge part. We worked hard every day and it payed off with positive outcomes.
Joe Gaiter: Did you have any adversity this year?
Kwanza Murray: No.
Joe Gaiter: How does it feel to be All American, featured in Sports Illustrated and named ECAC Division II Women’s Basketball Player of the Year?
Kwanza Murray: It’s such a blessing honestly. I don’t really give myself a lot of credit because I’m never satisfied only to know that it’s more room to improve but I’m humbled enough to say that getting these accolades showed that I worked hard everyday and was rewarded for it.
Joe Gaiter: What makes you such a dynamic guard?
Kwanza Murray: I stay working to perfect my craft rather the cameras are on or off. I always ask questions to know what I need to focus on to prepare myself for the next challenge.
Joe Gaiter: What is life for you off the court?
Kwanza Murray: I’m focused on bettering myself as a person, staying healthy, and inspiring others worldwide.
Joe Gaiter: What is your major and how will you use it?
Kwanza Murray: My major is mass communications and I want to be an actress.
Joe Gaiter: What are your aspirations in basketball?
Kwanza Murray: I hope to continue playing and go pro.
Joe Gaiter: Where are you training during the off-season?
Kwanza Murray: As of now I’m just training myself you can say. I’m running around the neighborhood to stay in shape and using the court down the road from my house to work and perfect my craft.
Joe Gaiter: What do you want your legacy to be?
Kwanza Murray: I just want to leave my mark every where I go. I want people to see me and remember me for impacting and inspiring others that encounter with me.
Joe Gaiter: What is your motivation?
Kwanza Murray: My mom, watching her gave me my momentum to go after it. Pushing myself past my limits and never settle.
