Joe Gaiter: What does basketball mean to you?
Tajh Green: Basketball means everything to me. It gets my mind off any negative thing that’s going on in my life.
Joe Gaiter: Where did you grow up and tell us about your childhood.
Tajh Green: I was born in Rome, Georgia but move to South Carolina when I was like 3 or 4 years old. I would go back to stay with my dad in Georgia any school break or summer I could. As a kid, I never really played basketball because I thought I was going to be a football player.

Joe Gaiter: What are your fondest memories about C.A Johnson High School?
Tajh Green: Winning a State Championship as a sophomore. My first varsity in game dunk and it was a body. Every lit game we had.
Joe Gaiter: You were 1A player of the year, All-region, All-State, 2014 State Champions, North South All Star Game, Capital City Classic All Star Game. How did you remain humble?
Tajh Green: I just look at it as another chance to get better. I always been a humble person, I don’t brag about what I did or will do .
Joe Gaiter: Tell us about your recruitment experience.
Tajh Green: Out of high school, I was heavily recruited by many schools. My biggest interest I had was University of Georgia but I had many offers from D1’s and D2’s. Out of Juco, my freshman year, I had a lot of interest from a lot of high major D1’s. My sophomore year, I had schools from D1’s to NAIA. I committed to Union College but decided not to go due to some things I couldn’t control.

Joe Gaiter: Tell us about your time at Spartanburg Methodist College?
Tajh Green: My freshman was the best year I ever had in college. My teammates was like blood brothers to me and still in contact with the whole team. They help put that dog in me on the court because everybody on that team was some dogs on the court. Even my sophomore year was the same exact way. I’m still in contact with all my boys.
Joe Gaiter: Why did you choose Benedict College?
Tajh Green: It was a last minute decision but I’m real thankful for it. I was going to Union College but some things happened like 2 weeks before school started, so I went to apply as a regular student and got in contact with Coach Maddox. I redshirted my first year at Benedict and played this year. It was another blessing really just to play for another college.

Joe Gaiter: What has been your contribution to the team?
Tajh Green: This year I averaged 14 points and 9 rebounds. Everybody on the team could listen and respect each other so we all was leaders in some way.
Joe Gaiter: What is your relationship like with Head Coach Artis Maddox and the legendary dresser Asst. Coach Phil Jackson?
Tajh Green: My relationship with my coaches is real good. They might be a little hard on me but that’s what they’re for. On and off the court, I have a good relationship with all coaches on our staff.
Joe Gaiter: Why did Benedict College go 14-16 this season?
Tajh Green: We had a fresh group. Some games we let slip away at the end that we know we should’ve won. Of course teams have different individual problems and we had some problems on our team that we had to just push through and play no matter the situation.

Joe Gaiter: What is your motivation on the court?
Tajh Green: My mom because she’s a single mother and basically been one her whole life raising five kids on her own. She’s a strong woman that gave me everything I needed and I want to give her everything back plus more. Another motivation is my grandmother because she pushed through any situation that she could’ve lost her life with and she still here.
Joe Gaiter: What are your strengths and areas you need to improve on playing forward?
Tajh Green: My strengths are scoring in the paint. I try to crash the board and get every rebound each game. I play with a lot of energy so I be hype most of the time. I do have to tighten up on handling the ball and shooting the 3 constant.

Joe Gaiter: How did you develop you amazing dunking abilities?
Tajh Green: To be real, I didn’t start dunking until my tenth grade year in high school. I remember my basketball coach in middle school always use to tell me every time I tried to dunk, “you can’t dunk a doughnut in a cup of coffee”. Other than that most of its natural but I do work in my legs in the weight room.
Joe Gaiter: What is your major and how do you plan on using it?
Tajh Green: My major is Sport Management. After I’m done with basketball, I want to be a personal trainer or a basketball coach. It doesn’t matter what level I coach at.
Joe Gaiter: Where are you training during the off-season?
Tajh Green: Outside really, most gyms slowing opening back up due to COVID-19 but the outside work helps a lot. I get my running in and find a goo hoop session to stay in shape.
Joe Gaiter: Who are some other athletes we need to keep on our radar?
Tajh Green: My whole team because we coming for everybody we play. Everybody will make a name for themselves. Its talent in our conference but my teammates is who I’m stepping on the court to go to war with so y’all should be on the lookout.
